Former Rangers in Diaspora patron tips team to win elite trophy

A Prominent member of Enugu Rangers in Diaspora, Benson Ejindu (Ezeomogo), has tipped the team to excel at next year’s CAF Champions League because the team have started their preparation for the 2016/2017 season on a good note.

The U.S-based Ejindu, who during the recently concluded 2016 NPFL season promised to hand N1.5 million to the Flying Antelopes if they broke their 32- year old trophy jinx, said he is coming home from his base next week to redeem the pledge.

“I made a pledge to Rangers that I will give them N1.5 million if they won the league. I am happy they won it and on my part I am ready to host the team in Enugu and hand over the cash to the players and officials,” he said.

The grand patron of the former Rangers players in the U.S, said he sees the team re-enacting their 1977 feat at the continent scene next term, if given the needed support.“I watched the team play Akwa United this season and I was impressed with what I saw. The present Rangers squad is good. I m happy there is a high level of continuity as most of the players and coaches are still there ahead of their CAF Champions League campaign. If they get the kind of support they need, they will conquer Africa again as they did way back in 1977,” Ejindu said.

He stressed that the vision of former Rangers in the United States is to see the team become one of the biggest clubs in Africa.
