Enugu Rangers defender, Ugwu Uwadiegwu has assured that his side will use its CAF Champions League form to prosecute the rescheduled NPFL week 7 fixture against Lobi Stars today at the ‘Cathedral’ in Enugu.
Rangers played a goalless draw with JSS Saoura of Algeria last Sunday but progressed to the first round of the CAF Champions League, courtesy of the 1-1 draw they recorded in the first leg in Algeria.
In appreciation, the government Enugu State increased the team’s bonuses and morale in the camp of the ‘flying antelopes’ is really high at the moment.
Speaking to Daily Trust yesterday, the hard tackling defender expressed confidence that Rangers will pick the maximum points against Lobi Stars in today’s match.
He said the reigning NPFL champions are not going to leave any stone unturned in their bid to beat Lobi Stars and improve their standing on the table.
He, however, said it will not be an easy task because any fixture involving the two clubs is never easy.
According to him, Lobi Stars are tricky customers so Rangers will be careful in handling them.
“We have put behind us the success in the preliminary round of the CAF Champions League. It was a hard fought battle but we thank God that we were able to come out victorious.
“Our match against Lobi Stars is equally important because it will help us move up the table. We are targeting an outright win over them.
“Our management has raised our morale so we are in the right state of mind to face Lobi Stars.
“They will be difficult but I don’t see them denying us the maximum points. It is our home match and we are going to make good use of all the available advantages,” he said.
In other rescheduled matches, Katsina United will host FC IfeanyiUbah, Wikki Tourists will welcome 3SC just as Kano Pillars will be guests of Rivers United at the Yakubu Gowon stadium in Port-Harcourt.
