More tributes are still pouring in for the late coach Kelechi Emeteole who gave up the fight against throat cancer on Wednesday. This time, his former player, Enugu Rangers midfielder Godwin Aguda, whose career at the Flying Antelopes was made possible by ‘Caterpillar’, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
Aguda has expressed sadness on the death of the one-time Heartland, El Kanemi and Enyimba coach who died in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
“I couldn’t hold back the tears when I heard about his death. He influenced me a lot on and off the field and it is not easy to forget that kind of man.
“Emeteole signed me two years ago, in April 2015 and I was close to him. We will miss him,” Aguda added in an emotion-laden voice.
On Wednesday, the midfielder wrote a heart-felt tribute to Emeteole on his Facebook.
“The man dat God also used to give light in my career. I will 4ever remember you Kelechi Emetole A.K.A Nigeria Caterpillar.
“May ur soul rest in peace IJN Amen ????????.”
The Flying Antelopes secured an impressive point on the road in their previous match, and the striker claims the result has done wonders for the squad’s mentality
Enugu Rangers forward, Ifeanyi George says the reigning Nigerian champions are very confident heading into their next Nigerian top flight encounter, following a 1-1 draw away to El Kanemi Warriors.
The Flying Antelopes have struggled in 2017 after they broke a 32-years jinx to lift the league trophy.
“I thank God for the point earned in our mid-week match against El-Kanemi Warriors and I know that result has helped boost the confidence of the team,” George told Goal.
“We were able to pick up a point where nobody believed it was possible to do so because El Kanemi Warriors have won all their home games since 2016.
“I can tell you that the result from that match has helped our belief more and the spirit of the team is so high. We know that we are going all out for more points to improve on our position in the league table.
“I think with the inclusion of me and some new players to beef up the team has helped the team a lot, but we know that we have to bring the team back to the top of the table, so we urge our fans to keep supporting us like they have been doing and we promise we shall always give our best to make them proud.”
